Enabling Problem Solving
The final function of communication in the organisation is problem solving. As the organisation develops, so it will face challenges, difficulties, opportunities and problems, the resolution of which relies on effective communication.
This means that information, ideas, critiques, etc must flow freely in the organisation -top to bottom, bottom to top and side to side.
The first and major barrier to problem solving is influence -if you haven't got it you can't do it! Check yourself on the following questionnaire.
Think of one organisation or situation in relation to your desire to improve communication. Circle the number 1 to 10 which best describes your position in respect of the statement.
